Despite Kristian Matsson’s short stature, The Tallest Man on Earth’s performance was overpowering. Matsson’s organic vocals and phenomenal guitar skills further proved that his music is equally if not even better when live. “Love is All” had the crowd singing along with a tremendous amount of soul, reiterating the refreshingly natural vibe felt throughout the Gobi tent. The Tallest Man On Earth was another one of the shows that defied the poor sound quality in Gobi, no doubt due to the pure acoustic talent that was especially heard in “King of Spain.”
The highlight of the performance was crowd favorite “I Won’t Be Found” which energized the audience despite its mellow nature as they echoed Mattson’s vocals. It was obvious throughout the show that those in the audience were there because they truly loved the Swedish singer/songwriter. This was a performance that had me leaving a bigger fan than I was going in.
