Stalkerish People Watching at Pitchfork Fest / 500th post!
July 18, 2007
While the music at Pitchfork Festival is definitely the biggest draw, I’d probably still go just to for the people watching. As I was walking through the gate one day, the person taking my ticket said “there’s a lot of weird looking people here”. I tried to get some random people shots throughout the day, and I uploaded a few of the better ones.
This is my 500th post, so thanks to all the readers who’ve stuck through this long, added their comments, sent me encouraging emails, voted in my Who’s Worse polls, corrected my poor grammar, etc. Seriously, it means a lot to me, and I wouldn’t have lasted this long without it. In the eternal words of Hansel: “I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I’m selling? No. Do I know what I’m doing today? No. But I’m here, and I’m gonna give it my best shot.”
MP3 Proclaimers – I Will Walk 500 Miles
Without further adieu, here’s the people shots (Make sure to click through the see all of them):

Hipster dudes waiting at Gate 3. Jean cutoffs were a popular fashion choice.
MP3 Jeremy Warmsley – Dirty Blue Jeans

Male and Female trying to read map. Lots of bandanas at the fest also.

Disappointed that Bright Eyes isn’t playing the festival.
MP3 Arrah and the Ferns – Emo Phillips

Killer sideburns!

Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth trying to look inconspicuous on his cell phone.

Some colorful dresses at the fest. Also pink polka dotted shorts.
MP3 Mountain Goats – Pink and Blue

The parallels between White Trash and Hipster are sometimes stunning.

Some of the more adventurous festival goers find a better spot for Oxford Collapse.
MP3 The Rosebuds – Shake Our Tree

I want these Richie Tenebaum Shades!

Nothing more refreshing than a mid-day water gun fight in the sand.
MP3 Saturday Looks Good To Me – Meet Me By The Water

This guy has the trifecta: Striped shirt, Jean Cutoffs, Mystic Tan

Crowd Shot! Whoo!

just two excited festival-goers…
