Kings of Convenience

Date August 24, 2005

I discovered this band through iTunes Free Music Downloads program, and was recently reminded how good they are when my place of employment (barnes and noble) added them to the in-store play list (Much better than playing Celtic Woman every day, much better)… The music is slow, folky with a jazz tint (trumpets and piano are main instruments), their voices reminds me of Simon and Garfunkle at times. I think Sufjan Stevens fans could really get into their stuff.

Hey how’s it goin? I’ve been really into the Kings of Convenience for a while now and I’m looking for some new discoveries. Do you have any good recommendations of some bands with a similar style or sound? I’m not sure if you’ve heard of Midlake but they’re also one of my current favorites and I haven’t been able to find anything in this vein that really strikes a chord with me recently. Thanks for the help!
