Elsinore – Live @ Summer Camp
June 2, 2008

Elsinore is an up-and-coming Champaign/Urbana-located band who used to be all about acoustic guitars and Americana but recently decided to try their hand in the burgeoning Indie Rock scene. I hadn’t heard the band’s old sound going into the show so I can’t comment on how well the transition’s going but I can say that their new indie-friendly sound is top notch. The band is able to stand apart from the pack based on Ryan Groff’s oustanding vocals and their loose catchy melodies. After Elsinore’s impressive Summer Camp set, I’m very much looking forward to hearing more from the band.
You can hear a couple of their newer songs (Landlocked is my personal favorite) at Elsinore’s myspace. Here’s an older one called “Cannonballs”, a lovely folk song showcasing Groff’s vocals and the band’s ear for melody.

Good eye catching these guys, they’re personal favorites of mine and I work next door to Ryan in downtown Champaign. Their Summer Camp set was too short, make sure to catch them headlining around Champaign sometime if you have the chance, since they have a lot more time to play around and toss in the occasional cover.
Also, nice photo set for Summer Camp, between all the rain I just left my camera behind half the time and my pictures certainly suffered this year.
