The BLAKROC “project” is probably the most anticipated album of the year. Well, at least for the remainder of ’09. American blues-rock music duo, The Black Keys (Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney), have laid down ever-cohesive instrumentals for some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop and after reading into it, it seems as though everything has gone full-circle for the two:
“Making this record was a dream come true for both Dan and I. When we were first starting out all we did was listen to Hip-Hop. We would listen to Liquid Swords and try to get our homemade recordings to sound like RZA’s samples. Actually working with him was mind blowing! The most fun I have ever had making music was doing this record.” -Patrick Carney
Label executive and co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, Damon Dash, has taken full advantage of his network to produce the most unexpected and innovative mash-ups to date, reviving the absolute rawness of live Hip-Hop, on a spontaneous tip. BLAKROC will feature signature verses from artists like Mos Def, RZA, Pharoahe Monch, Raekwon, Jim Jones, Q-Tip, Billy Danze, and many more! And to think this unimaginable idea was set into motion and actualized in just 11-days.
The album drops, November 27th… yes, that’s Black Friday. Learn more here!
