The Go! Team – Live @ Lollapalooza

Date August 5, 2008

The Go! Team was the first show of Lollapalooza that I was really excited for, being that I had never seen the band before and have been a fan since Thunder, Lightning Strike came out in ‘05.  The band lived up to all my expectations with a frenetic, high-energy show that got the whole crowd moving (they were one of the few main stage bands to do so).  I think the above picture sums up pretty well the excitement of the show with bandmembers jumping around left and right and banging on instruments.  Even the guy playing the harmonica was completely rocking out.

As good as the Go! Team’s songs are on the record, they really came alive when being performed. The Proof of Youth songs came off especially well in the live setting improving vastly over their recorded versions with “Grip Like A Vice”, “The Wrath of Marcie”, “Keys to the City”, and especially “Doing It Right” being complete showstoppers live.  That didn’t take away from the awesomeness of oldies like “The Power Is On” , “Ladyflash”, and “Bottle Rocket”.  Ninja did a great job of getting the crowd into the music whether it was dancing, jumping up and down, or chanting “Do It, Do It, Alright”.  Awesome set.

Hey, great pics. I loved the Go Team’s set. Did they really play The Power is On? If so, it must have been completely unrecognizable because I missed it.

yeah it was a great set and it kept my mind off the heat which was probably the worst at the bud light stage. i heard people talking about the go! team all weekend.
