On April 2 Mix
April 2, 2008

Although yesterday it was quite chilly outside, I’ve been told that starting today it’s only going to be warm days and sunshine. I’m more than ready to put that harsh winter behind me and start bathing in sunny goodness. Here’s a mix of lazy, floating springtime tunes I like to call the “On April 2 Mix”.
As you might have figured out it the mix gets it’s name and inspiration from the Headlights song by the same title, which opens the mix perfectly with its bright and cheery spirit. From there we have the charmingly simple “Where Does The Time Go?” and the gorgeous bird-like harmonies of The Rosebud’s “Blue Bird”. Those Chrysler commercials have put “This Boy” by I’m From Barcelona on my mind recently and I think it fits perfectly here. I wanted to use Donovan’s “Jennifer Juniper” here, but I only have the live version. Either way, “Happiness Runs” works just as well and has some of my favorite girl/guy harmonies. Next is Let’s Go Sailing’s delightful “Icicles” and The Sea and Cake with the jangly and sublime “Jacking The Ball”. Finally, we have Stars’ lovely ballad “Calendar Girl”, which ends the mix on a triumphant high note.
1. Headlights – On April 2
2. The Innocence Mission – Where Does The Time Go?
3. The Rosebuds – Blue Bird
4. I’m From Barcelona – This Boy
5. Donovan – Happiness Runs
6. Let’s Go Sailing – Icicles
7. The Sea and Cake – Jacking The Ball
8. Stars – Calendar Girl

Those ducklings are too cute. I think they would make a nice addition to our family…? I’m glad to see you’re in the springy spirit.

Just haven’t commented in forever – wanted to say thanks! I’m definitely in the springy spirit too and the mix is lovely, as always.

dude, jacking the ball… one of the greatest songs on the S/T album… also the second you find samples of Mates of State’s Rearrange Us album, please post them.
