Favorite Human Giant sketches

I’m very excited tonight because one of my favorite shows, Human Giant, is returning to the air. If you’re not familiar with the program, it’s a sketch comedy featuring three of the greatest comedic minds known to humankind: Aziz Ansari, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel. From the clips and teasers that have leaked, this season looks like it’s going to be crazier, bloodier, more star-filled (Will Arnett, David Cross, Omar from The Wire), and more hilarious than ever. So in honor of the season premiere, here’s my favorite Human Giants sketches in descending order of hilarity (with embeds!). Click ahead to see the whole list.

Catching A Predator

All of Rob and Aziz’s interactions are hilarious. Two favorite lines = “Fiddling knobs, touching keys, having fun with a full grown man” and “Come on, I got a full beard.”

Other Music (Indie Clerk Assholes)

This was the one that started it all. It has the perfect mix of indie name dropping like Sudgefan Stéphens and Carlos D (he celebrates black history month in November) and quotable lines like “just going to be an intimate little gig in the dumpster”. Too bad Rob and Paul aren’t in it…

This sketch is so hysterically politically incorrect. Highlights: “I wish that Indians never came and invaded our country in the first place, but they did, and now we have to deal with it”. “I want sunglass huts, I don’t want teepees”.

Clell Tickle: Indie Marketing Guru

Made even better by the fact that I was at Pitchfork Fest when they filmed this. Paul’s music blogger is exactly what I look like in real life. Best line goes to Devendra Banhart – “Clell Tickle ripped my beard off! This isn’t even a real beard, man! This thing’s fake!”.

Commercial Jingles

This is Paul Scheer’s shining moment and I’m not ashamed to say that I have the whole Doritos jingle memorized. “Gotta get me some meeeeentos!”. Make sure to watch Part 2 for the “doritos time” pay-off (featuring Kristen Schall).

Illusionators

This was the video that I used to introduce people to Human Giant’s first season. Highlights: The entire opening sequence (the waterfalls get me everytime) and the line, “There’s no way my father was in on that, because he was f***in’ dead!”. Teleport!

Escalating Interview

Aziz’s entire speech is amazing but especially: “I dont want you out there on the bully plank calling me up going ‘hey I got to put on my marshmellow pants and hit the boo hoo button, ’cause I don’t know where the cranberries are! Do you know what I mean?”. I’ve watched this sketch probably 50 times and I still crack up when I hear Rob’s yelp when he comes in.

Shutterbugs

The whole thing is comedy genius but the I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder than at Rob Huebel’s line in the Cody Austin scene. “He walks in our office for our first meeting and burst threw the doors and goes “hey shutterbugs SHUT THE F**K up! I wanna work!” Now what can you do, for me. ” Why don’t you call us back when you’re not Asian.
