Take me to a dark place, I’ve never been out of this town…

Although you probably have not have heard of Barton Carroll as a singer-songwriter, there’s a chance you’ve heard him play with bands such as Crooked Fingers, Dolorean, or Azure Ray. While he’s most well-known as a collaborator, Barton released his third LP last month and whether he’s signing about drinking scotch in the rain or girls that are “drowning in boys and hipster noise”, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable folk-rock album.

My favorite track, besides the aforementioned hipster-referencing “Brookyn Girl, You’re Going To Be My Bride”, is called “Dark Place”. At it’s core it’s a traditional folk song about a protoganist who wishes to be taken to a dark place so he can reflect on his life (even if it means being locked in a closet). At 1:46, it goes just as fast as it came, but this is anything but a filler track. The percussive foot-stomping and harmonica solo add some flair to the song, and the melody is undeniably catchy. If you enjoy these tracks, you can buy The Lost One at Skybucket Records.

LOST Question(s): What do you think the chances are that Michael is Ben’s “man on the boat”? I’m thinking that would be a pretty good way to re-introduce him back into the show. And why do the freighties want Ben anyway? That question is going to plague me all week…

I think it would be a cooler twist if Locke wound up being one of the Oceanic Six.

That was my initial reaction when I heard him mention the man on the boat, actually. As soon as he said it, I thought, MICHAEL!

It is quite possible that Locke is one of the Oceanic Six. Remember last season when Jack went to that funeral, and he was the only one that showed up… that could be Locke.
