This ain’t a scene, it’s hands down the best song of the year!

Date April 1, 2007

UPDATE: It seems like my site was taken over by a 14 year old girl yesterday. None of following actually represents the views of Music For Kids Who Can’t Read Good:

As you all know, I have a life-long obsession with Fall Out Boy and I just got around to buying their new single, “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” on iTunes. First off, what a fantastic song title, it’s so descriptive and yet so gloriously vague. The song starts out with some distant synth lines and I think, “Oh no, is this Depeche Mode?” but within seconds Patrick Stump’s amazing lead vocals come in over a dance beat that would make Justin Timberlake jealous. Fall Out Boy gets a lot of slack for it’s vocals but they seem to be taking lessons from Maroon 5 on this song. The high crooning voice works perfectly.

But wait, just as I’m admiring the vocal quality something I can’t explain happens, the chorus comes in and I’m thrusted out of my seat. Wow, that’s powerful. I almost wished I worked out because this gets me so pumped! One thing that annoys me about songs is that you can’t always sing to them the first time you hear them. Luckily for me, the verse of “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s An Arms Race” is repeating the title of the song over and over which makes it so much easier to join in the singing frenzy! Before I know it, the chorus is upon me and it comes with even more power then before. Then there’s some trademark Fall Out Boy jamming! The guitar work here is stunning, the band is really reinventing the rock genre. Just when I think the band couldn’t top that, they go into perhaps the greatest sing-a-long since “Hey Jude” and before you know it the song comes to the high-octane ending.

“This Ain’t a Scene…” covers so much ground in 3:28, it’s unbelievable. Even after one listen I guarantee that you will know every word of this song when you’re 70 years old. That’s how catchy it is! I thought Lene Alexendre’s “My Boobs are OK” would be my number one song all year, but Fall Out Boy just knocked it out of the park. Highly Recommended (obviously)!

    It’s April 17th and I just deleted the song (I’m 18 now, that’s why x’D)

Now seriously: I’ve been trying to understand the reason why you had posted such a… thing, but I couldn’t stand even a minute listening to it.
That’s why I definately erase (and destroyed) it. And now I see this post is from 1st of April… I’m not able to remember more than one fool’s day yet… (in Spain it’s December 28th) :_)

BTW, good luck with the blog, I’m really enjoying it. Thanks.
