The first glimpse of Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky
March 1, 2007

I’ve been on a Wilco binge this week, re-listening to albums like Summerteeth and A.M., and seeing Pat and John play in the Autumn Defense (who were amazing by the way, but I’ll save that for another post). So basically it’s a perfect time for new tracks from Sky Blue Sky to start surfacing.
Out of the three tracks, “You Are My Face” is my favorite and I think it gives a good idea of the sound that this record is going to explore. It has that warm folk/country sound that attracted me to Wilco in the first place mixed with some punchy guitar parts thrown in to keep things interesting. “Walken” is more of a dynamic guitar-centered tune with some piano in it has me thinking of David-Bowie-circa-Hunky-Dory-glam rock. “Either Way” is a bit more mellow, but it’s one that I can see growing on me.

Also, here’s a live version of “What Light”, which is currently my most anticipated song from Sky Blue Sky.

Also, I hope you caught Lost last night, it was a very lighthearted first season-ish episode. Hurley’s comeback at Sawyer was one of the funniest things I’ve seen on the show. Did the van-pushing scene seem a bit Little Miss Sunshine to anyone?

There should be a fiction-wide ban on broken down vans that BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER.
