Future Mix: I’m looking at you, 2007
December 27, 2006

Well, we’re in the last few days of 2006 and many are already beginning to look forward to next year in music. What’s in store for 2007 you may ask? I’ve made a schedule of sorts of albums that are being released in 2007 (or are being projected to be released) that I’m looking forward to. It’s a understatement to say that it looks like it’s going to be a great year for music. If I have a single/demo/live song from the album I’ve included it as an MP3 download.
I’m going on a cruise this week so I won’t be posting very frequently, if at all (although I might try the wordpress future post thing out). In the meantime though, feel free to discuss which of these albums you can’t wait for or tell me if there’s some 2007 albums that I missed that I should be hyped up for. Wow. You’re getting me excited for 2007. Andrew Bird’s album comes out March 20, by the way.

A few highly anticipated (by me) that you missed:
In the vein of what you’ve listed: Dolorean – You Can’t Win (Feb. 20); Jens Lekman (don’t know if there’s a title or date)
In different vein: Geoff Berner – The Wedding Dance Of The Widow Bride (Feb. 1); Son Volt – In Search (Mar. 6)

The Shins – Sleeping Lessons. Isnt the album “Wincing the night away”?
Also, I promise that “The Polyphonic Spree – The Fragile Army” is going to kick all kinds of ass. They have a revamped sound, look, style, and from the sound of thier latest EP “Wait” we are in store for an amazing album.

The only omission i can find is You, You’re a History in Rust, Do Make Say Think, i’m really excited by that one. Plenty to look forward to in 2007, especially Arcade Fire, EITS, Spoon and Wilco.

The Bloc Party one is long overdue. Everything I’ve heard so far, I’m in love with.

That is awesome, I was just trying to compile a similar list myself. I think the first quarter of ‘07 might be better than all of ‘06. The Shins – Wincing the Night Away has already leaked, and it is ridiculously awesome. It’s very dreamy the lyrics almost create a fairy tale. Probably the best Pop Rock since the Beach Boys.

I love “The Prayer”, but so far have only heard one other track from the album, and it’s a little Snow Patrol-y for my tastes. But I’m optimistic!
